Alanah making the alphabet train puzzle
Lelia with the foam shape puzzle and Phaedra with the fire truck puzzle
Addison with the number train puzzle
The girls
Lelia pouring Montessori-style
She has a tray for carrying and containing spills And a cloth to wipe up I always love the concentration and pleasure on the faces :-)
Meanwhile Boog checks out her sisters stuff
Addison pouring water The clear vessels allow the children a good view of what they're doing
Lots of focus and attention
Phaedra asked to polish
We use toothpaste- this is an excellent use for old tubes of toothpaste You can cut the tube into squares and there is a decent amount of toothpaste left inside
Lelia has moved on to pouring beans. First we started by spooning them but pouring was more interesting to her
Part of the process is self-correction. The child can see when a bean misses and fix the problem themselves, the tray contains any mess
Everyone at work with the Boog looking on
Lelia's turn to polish, not only did the metal shine but the room smelled minty-fresh!
Addison's turn with the beans, she decides spooning is more challenging
Phaedra spoons the beans next
When transferring items we always start left to right- this aids with future reading, as they get used to beginning on the left
Addison waited a long time but finally "gets to" polish :-)
Addison takes lots of care with her task. Maria Montessori really observed children and what they enjoy
Lelia with the stacking shapes
Charlotte pulling playsilks from the basket
Addison with the knobless red cylinders
She used them up on the windowsill shelf, out of Boog's reach~ for now :-)
