S~ Cinnamon toast, red grapes, water
L~ Ellio's Pizza, buttered green beans, milk

Wow February flew by!
Today we played Ring Around the Rosy and chanted the Sticky, sticky, sticky bubblegum game. We had another rainbow of balloons to bat around and catch and run after.  Brendan and I did the literacy activity from the other day, where he chose a picture to glue onto his paper and then told me about it while I wrote down his words. Afterward. Ivy wanted to do another one too.

Daniel counted the snowman's buttons. We read Abiyoyo and then watched it being read by Pete Seeger on an episode of Reading Rainbow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPZtuPyXRfw
We also listened/watched two 'Pete the Cat' stories.

Thursday Feb 27th

B~ Cheerios, bananas, milk
S~ Gala Apple slices, saltines, water
L~ Macaroni and cheese, broccoli florets, milk
S~ Red Grapes, buttered toast, water

The photos have been sporadic this week, with many of the kids not feeling well I've been doing more cuddling than photographing :-)

We had the flannel sets out yesterday- This Little Piggy, Hey Diddle Diddle, The Mitten story and dinosaur figures. I did a literacy activity with Ivy yesterday. She picked out some photos to glue onto a page and then she dictated a story about the photos.
Activities like this are fun (and usually funny) and also help to establish and strengthen the connection between the spoken word and written words. Children typically ask to hear their story read back to them again and again.

Today we repotted our pumpkin plants. All 3 were in one small pot and we transplanted them into their own large pot made from recycled yogurt containers covered in paper. The red pot has worm castings mixed in, we will choose another one to water with 'worm casting compost tea' and the third we will just use plain water and plain potting soil....and we shall see how they grow!

If all goes to plan, we will transplant them outdoors when the soil is warm enough, and we will also plant the hyacinth bulbs that we forced this winter.

The other afternoon, Alana noticed the feathers in the art cabinet. They are larger ones that we use as quills. We talked about how in the olden days people used these with ink to write and she gave it a try using paint.
She also wanted to write "Logan" in cursive--which was quite a challenge using the quill, but she did it!

Tuesday February 25th

B~ cheerios, raisins, milk
S~ Vanilla yogurt, bananas, water
L~ Gorton's Fish Sticks, mixed veggies: green beans, peas, corn, carrots, lima beans; bread and butter, milk
S~ Red grapes, saltines, water

We used the marble run today, and read Abiyoyo plusI told the stories of The Gingerbread Man and The Ugly Duckling using the story prop boxes. I made some paper shapes to use with the snowman counting game. We also made up some games using the pompoms. The Montessori cylinder blocks were a big hit today, they played with them for a long time exploring the different sized cylinders and where they fit.

We went outside today too, it was colder than I expected but I told them we could go out and they wouldn't let me out of it! Luckily the wind was not blowing and they were able to walk further into the yard due to the crust on the snow. We were only out for about 15 minutes but it was good to get the fresh air!

Each set is has cylinders graduated by a different attribute

Some are all the same height but different widths

Some are the same width but different heights, there are 4 blocks altogether
