Thursday January 26, 2012

Today the girls polished up a silverplate tea set. The polishing cloth turned black with tarnish- they really made the pieces shine!

We have been play-acting pick up time and today's play was on "Greetings"
It was fun to do, and was very rewarding to see such loving and courteous greetings today- and your noticing was an added bonus :-)

You could see how proud the children were of themselves as well!!
Win-win-win :-)  Of course, we are all a work in progress and there will be plenty more opportunities for growth in this area- and many others!

Maria Montessori developed what she called Grace and Courtesy lessons and these plays fall into that category.

It is so much better and so much easier to set aside a time to practice appropriate behavior, when we are not in the moment and trying to correct it then. I forget this myself sometimes, so it always feels good to come back to it and see the children do so well. It really feels good! :-)

Toothpaste is a remarkable polisher- I am always impressed!

Charli and the gears, Lelia offered them to her :-)

Alanah has a bottle of cut up pipe cleaners...

And a magnet wand

Addison's turn to polish

The princess hammering

I love a princess who knows how to use tools :-)

Phaedra is fancy today- just like Fancy Nancy

After school and snack, Alanah resumes her polishing :-)

So shiny!

Now we can pour some tea [water]
