The "Flip Trick"

B~ Cream of Wheat cereal with honey, bananas and milk
S~ Cheddar cheese and multi-grain club crackers
L~ Macaroni and cheese, chicken pot pie, asian mixed medley- broccoli, carrots, snap peas- milk
S~ Fresh pears, wheat crackers, filtered water

We had a couple of kids out sick today, so it has been a quiet day. Ivy has been really trying to master the "flip trick".  This is when the child lies their coat down on the floor in front of them, upside down, and inserts their hands into the armholes. They then stand and swing the coat overhead and their arms slide into the sleeves.  This is a great way for them to be able to get into their own coat, and my experience has been that as they get older and their arms are longer, that they just naturally put their coat on in the traditional manner. In the interim, this empowers them because they "can do it"

Ivy has become interested in "the flip trick" lately - and now  "insists" on trying lol
Just as it is supposed to be :-)  And I got some pictures of her feat today.

We also read Big Red Barn, Clifford's Bedtime, and Christmas Is Coming

Charli and Ivy

Ivy decides to try the flip trick We weren't going out yet so it was a perfect time for her to practice The coat should face her with the hood by her feet- start upside down to finish right side up

Meanwhile Charli draws

Ivy has made up her mind that she is doing this

Up it goes- and misses

Undeterred, she starts over

Almost, not quite

She restarts again, has the coat upside down, hands inserted...

Up she goes!

She did it!!!!

I see this a lot and love it every time- they always try to help each other, this is a first for Boog. It is extra cute because she can't zip yet~ but has that desire to learn- and that's what it's all about  :-)

YAY Ivy!!! Great job!! You DID it!!!

Now back to drawing :-)
