Brrrr it is cold out there, too cold to go outside today!
Over the weekend I rearranged the playroom and set up the cushions in there as a foam climber. I would like to leave it up permanently or at least for the winter.
We've talked a lot about being safe while using it (examples of both safe ways to play there, as well as unsafe ways)
I ordered new materials through Constructive Playthings and they arrived yesterday. So far we've used the Solar System floor puzzle, new foam unit blocks, and some play-food sandwiches- pb&j and bologna and cheese with lettuce and tomato.
I took photos of the multicultural and diverse abilities block corner people for you to see. There is also a new felt board set of community helpers- like paper dolls made of felt with different career outfits.
We will use all of these but I will introduce them over time. Today they really enjoyed the climbing cushions.
My plan is to sew new covers for them if they work out~ it really depends on the children playing safely.
Finally, the stuffed animals and puppets spent the weekend on the porch in the fresh, freezing cold air.
I am hoping any germs on them froze to death!
Here are the photos, including ones of the playroom and new materials

The stuffed animals and puppets getting a good airing out this long weekend |

The cushion climbers, I actually reduced the size to see how they'd do with this being available all the time. If all goes well, I want to sew covers for it from the sheets they are draped in. |

The playstands and kitchen are now on the other wall. |
|
There is a live plant (barely)on the windowsill- it is out of reach but again, we'll see how it goes :-) |

The block corner with the softer, foam unit blocks. The wooden set is in the playroom closet and will be available to the older children when they request it. |

Diverse abilities people. These, and the families are something that I've wanted to get for a long time- we will see if the kids like them as much as I hope! |
|
There are 4 sets of families: Hispanic, Caucasian, African American, and Asian. I really loved that these included grandparents, and lots of children- even a toddler or baby (depending on the set) |

Danny's favorite is throwing these foam blocks, and they are so light it is ok |
